Janet Frand
Dog trainer and clicker enthusiast Janet Frand has been teaching agility to people and their dogs since 1997. She believes that learning should be fun - for both the dog and the handler - and her relaxed, supportive teaching style reflects this goal. Janet strives to build a loving partnership between her students and their canine companions that is based on mutual respect, patience, and understanding. When teaching pet obedience and agility, she encourages her students to get creative, teach tricks, and use cross-training to keep things fun and engaging for the team.

Janet has been competing in agility since 1995. Her cocker spaniels Darby and Fanny hold titles in nearly every agility venue, including American Kennel Club (AKC), Canine Performance Events (CPE), North American Dog Agility Association (NADAC), United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA), and the Teacup Dog Agility Association (TDAA). A true student of the sport, Janet's teaching and handling skills have been influenced by many top trainers and world-class competitors. Over the years Janet has learned about agility fundamentals, new training methods, handling systems, canine structure, visualization, and more from Barb DeMascio, Chris Parker, Webb Anderson, Stuart Mah, Greg Louganis, Greg Derrett, Susan Garrett, Deborah Jones, Chris Zink, Elicia Calhoun, Donna Rohaus, Julie Daniels, and Bud Houston, among others.

Janet is just as passionate about clicker training as she is about agility, and she began offering clicker-based agility and pet obedience classes at Pawsitively Fun in 2002. Always eager to learn more about operant training methods, Janet has attended chicken camp and three Clicker Expos, where she has taken part in lectures and hands-on sessions with Karen Pryor, Kay Laurence, Ken Ramirez, Steve White, Virginia Broitman, Theresa McKeon, Kathy Sdao, Morgan Spector, and Angelica Steinker.

Janet has owned cocker spaniels for 37 years, volunteered for cocker spaniel rescue, and taught agility for 4-H. When she's not on the agility course, Janet can be found dabbling in flyball, tracking, freestyle and obedience. Watch for Janet's miniature poodle, Fleta, to make her agility ring debut in 2008.

Pat Reynolds

Pat is an ardent clicker trainer and student of canine behavior. She holds an MS degree in Animal Science from Cornell University and has extensive experience working with many species including dogs, horses, sheep, and cattle. Pat currently works for the Cornell Animal Health Diagnostic Center at the Cornell Veterinary College. In addition, she teaches clicker classes at Pawsitively Fun Training Center.

"Teaching has always been a major part of my life" says Pat. She had taught both formal and informal classes in many subjects to people of all ages and backgrounds. Her favorite classes involve working with animals and their owners. Pat believes that "training" is about building that special relationship with one's pet; a partnership where both animal and handler work cooperatively and willingly. Clicker training instills mutual trust and creates a fantastic 2-way communication system enabling both parties to "win big"!

Pat began clicker training several years ago after attending a seminar presented by Susan Garrett, a top Canadian agility trainer. "Susan's results were amazing! I was immediately hooked on clicker training" Pat explained. She went on to learn all she could about the subject.

Pat has attended 3 Clicker Expo's taking classes from clicker trainer greats Karen Pryor, Kathy Sdao, Ken Ramierez, Steve White, and many others. She has also been influenced by Bob Bailey, Jesus Rosales-Ruiz, Chris Zink, Sue Sternberg, Jean Dodds, Donna Rohaus, Barb DeMassio, Mary Jo Lavin, and other well-known trainers and canine behaviorists.

In addition to instruction Pat loves to compete with her Australian Shepherd, Wren. Wren has earned many agility titles from USDAA, NADAC, CPE and AKC, as well as titles in AKC and ASCA obedience. "Wren is my special girl and best friend" says Pat. "No matter what Wren's always there for me!"
